Schrenkiella parvula, one of Arabidopsis relative model species, grows in the soils that contain high concentration of multiple-ion salts which is lethal to Arabidopsis. It leaves us with a question; why is there such a significant difference on salt tolerance between Arabidopsis and S. parvula. To date, compared to what we know about glycophytes (e.a. RSA remodeling upon salt stress, main root and lateral root growths), such knowledge regarding the salt tolerance mechanism of S. parvula is largely missing. That’s why we are going to study the root growth of S. parvula under salt, its regulatory mechanism and its correlation with the salt tolerance mechanism of this plant.
