My research interests lie in the plant’s physiological responses to their soil environment and the (a)biotic factors it encounters there. Until now I have focused mainly on the effect of the root-associated microbiome on the plant’s physiology, and how this can change due to environmental nutrient levels.

Here in Wageningen, my project aims to elucidate plant resilience to abiotic stress in a complex environment with the focus on how salinity stress tolerance of rice (Oryza sativa L.) is influenced by the interaction with light and rhizosphere microbe community. Ultimately, this project attempts to strengthen our understanding of how plants respond to “real life” conditions.
