Enthusiastically leading the “Roots in Salt” dream team. Our focus is on salt stress, which is an increasing threat for plant yield worldwide. Salt induces a complex array of molecular and physiological responses in plants, that we aim to unravel. After being trained (MSc and PhD) as a plant molecular biologist and biochemist, via the Veni and Vidi grants of NWO Chemical Sciences, I became Professor of Plant Cell Biology at University of Amsterdam. Now I am proud to call myself a Plant Physiologist. At Wageningen University, I enjoy studying plant developmental plasticity, and like to switch between the bigger picture of stress tolerance and the nitty gritty details of cellular events.
