Salt stress poses a serious threat to plant growth and survival. The first organ exposed to salt stress is the plant root, and the root system architecture can be affected by salinity because of its role in water and nutrient uptakes. My research interest is understanding how the root system architecture is affected in response to salt and the role of phytohormones in this process. I will study the spatial and temporal regulation of lateral root development during the salt stress response by combining lab experiments and bioinformatic analyses to investigate the underlying molecular mechanism of rooting in salt.
