Lettuce is one of the most important leafy crops. While its morphological response to salt stress has been previously been studied, little is known on the molecular mechanisms underlying salt tolerance in this species. I am part of the LettuceKnow consortium, whose aim is to establish lettuce as a model crop organism on plant resilience and architecture. As such, from a wide pool of accessions from the cultivated Lactuca sativa and from its wild counterpart, Lactuca serriola, I aim to increase our current understanding of the molecular changes these plants undergo in saline environments that lead to salt resilience.
My project is part of the LettuceKnow consortium.
