On the news

The past month our research has been getting attention from the national Dutch news. A new initiative, the global commission on adaptation, tries to bring countries together to tackle problems arising from climate change. The idea is to share knowledge that could aid crop productivity during the current changes in environments worldwide. As you probably know our group investigates the effects of salt on plants, but within plant physiology we are also trying to find out how plants can survive drought. The research of Henk Hilhorst and colleagues focuses on resurrection plants, that can almost dry out completely, but are still able to recover to a normal functioning plant. On the radio and television in the dutch news you can hear our own Christa Testerink tell about this research as an example of important knowledge for countries dealing with drought.
